Park gates opened at 6:10 and I was on the water in my yak by 6:20. Beautiful morning, but 35 degrees! Started trolling a Maglip. Took about 5 minutes to get the first hit and fish to the boat. After that it was constant action. I would stop occasionally and toss out the Trout Magnet, but was only getting a few hits for all the risers around me, so pretty much stuck to trolling. About 8a the bite slowed way down as did the surface activity. The Maglip was still getting hits, but sporadic. I stopped and caught a couple on the TM, but then swapped the Maglip for a nickel/chartreuse spoon and started trolling again....that did the trick as the action was once again constant, but the hookups were less so and I lost many fish half way to the boat (barbless). Some excitement came when I hooked a bruiser that kept coming out of the water. Despite my best effort it spit the hook after the third jump. Guessing it was in the 2lb weight class. Continued to fish until 9:30. C&R'd about two dozen I guess with many more lost. Not the hottest I've seen it out there, but not bad regardless. A way to spend the morning.
