After catching our limit of Kokanee on Lake Stevens earlier in the morning (see my other report), my husband and I decided to try Lake Sammamish for a little cutthroat action. The lake has been a little slow lately but we though with the water temperature warming up a bit we would see if the fish had become more active. We headed up north past the weather buoy since the wind was blowing pretty steady. Found an area where the wind was little bit calmer and set our lines on the downrigger at 25 feet. We used homemade spinners dipped in Slammin' Sams shrimp scent and 50/50 half fast dodgers. About 30 minutes after dropping our lines, I got the first fish. Measuring in at 15". Shortly after I caught 2 more, 17" & 17.5". The it went dead for about 45 minutes. My luck ran out and my husband's turned on. He caught two 16" and one 15". At that point, the wind really started to pick up and we decided to head on in. What a perfect ending to a beautiful sunny Sunday.
