What a great day to go fishing; 70 degrees and sunny with very little wind!
Got to fish with Captain Dave and his family, what a hoot. His four year old daughter is really into cranking fish. We got started about 8:30 after an emergency potty run back to the gas station at Loon Lake for a potty break. Seems WDFW is putting a new potty at the WDFW boat launch and it is not open yet. They did not bother to set a Porta-Potty in the interim; BAD plan!!
Started getting fish trolling along the North end with three colors lead core (you know me) and Dave had out a two color lead core along with four more dropper rigs fishing the top 25' . Surface temp was just under 52 degrees. All of the tackle seemed to catch fish with a chartreuse spinner performing well along with a purple Assassin. I caught most of mine on a custom hoochie rig in purple haze with Radical Glow beads and gold micro spinner behind a RMT orange dodger. Speed was 1.1 to 1.3 mph. A little slow for my taste but we got fish anyway; Dave's boat you know!
We had LOTS of lost fish but managed 16 in the boat before the bite died around 10:30. The fish ranged from 8" to just under a foot. All were in nice shape. The pic with Dave's Fish Princess was the largest of the day. Thanks for a great trip with your family Dave! Always fun to be a stand in grandpa.
Tight lines all and "May The Experiment Continue"
