Had a fantastic day Sunday fishing the big lake with Robbie. Caught some, lost some and took a few home.

We fished the south end, Coulon, Cedar River and south side of Mercer. Marked general areas with hot spots. As usual thats where they were Sunday, who knows where they are today. Gotta go find them.

Brass spinners and orange/red assassins both with worm chunk got it done. Drop back 100-150. How deep I dont know. We caught fish from 0 to 50 feet down and everywhere in between. 80-120 fow.

Have to admit the day did start out a bit of a cluster circus. Put a new rack n pinion steering in the boat. Got it in backwards. Oh yeah turn right go left. No problem Robbie, I got this!!!

After a couple good trips to the south end I thought I would push my luck and try the north end. Juanita Bay to Evergreen Point. SKUNKEROO!! Like a desert. The only fish we marked were boogers on the screen. It was a learning experience. Lesson learned, go fish where the fish are and you might catch something. Head south. duh!!

Tight lines
Randy

Ohhhhhhh Randy!! There he is. The cutthroat are definitely in the north end, just gotta find em where you least expect them. Lately I’ve been finding them near the shore in about 25-40 fow. They are chasing around all those coho smolt you see on your radar. Last week I saw thousands of them surfacing and feeding. They even hit my lure on the drop. Tough part about the fishing right now is that the cutts move when the smolt move.

LOL thanks DJ. I should have picked up on that. I was out deeper. Live and learn. Thinking same scenario on Sammamish. Loaded with smolt in shallow.

I still haven’t found it to be as good as last year. Something seems “off” about the lake this Spring.
