Regardless of what others say regarding Sammamish...the Smallies are still alive and well. I caught a total of 6 in an hour...most were under 2lbs but I did catch one MONDO 6lb 3oz’er. Point is keep your head up, you will catch fish. If something’s not working, change it up don’t focus on one bait or presentation.

Also the lake is FULL of decent Yellow Perch this year!

Rumors of Lk Sammamish demise are greatly exaggerated generally by someone who has had a bad day. Tons of fish out there cutties, bass, perch, crappies etc etc. Nice job on the bass and perch. And you are 100% right. Regardless of what you are fishing for if something isnt working change things up. Dont keep doing the same thing that isnt working and expect different results.

nice Smallie!!! how deep are the perch sitting? my sisters kids have been dying to go out in the boat and thought it would be fun to get after the perch with them.

They are generally in the weed lines on the side closest to shore.

Simplest way for kids to catch them is by cutting a night crawler in half and dropping from a snap swivel to a foot leader with a free running bullet weight.

Grand daughters are putting the pressure on to go fish. Think perch would be the fish of choice. 5 years olds have an attention span of about 35 seconds.

Thanks for a positive report. I deferred to Tapps and had a very busy day, so maybe the bite is on now.

How many inches long was your big fish?

So great for your kids to get the experience of fishing with you. My dad passed last year and I will always cherish those times out with him fishing as he loved fishing too.

Not sure, I don’t keep my fish so I don’t carry a tape. If I was to guess it was 18 +.

if your weight is accurate i would say 20+ inches...i catch quite a few 18's between sammamish/washington and they all seem to be in the 4-4.5lbs range.

Nice fish, but not 6#s

Im guessing your scale is set to Kilograms. Your 6# 3oz reading would put that fish at just under 3#. Which is what it looks like and fits your 18inch estimate.

don't know if the weight is accurate or not, but scale definitely not set for kilo's...a kilo is 2.2 pounds so a 6 kilo reading would be over 13lbs.
