Hit Shadow lake at 5a. First on the water, but people were showing up as I was getting ready to leave the launch in my kayak.
Beautiful morning with fish rising. Started with a Trout Magnet and first cast resulted in a fast takedown and good fight. 20” RBT started the day. I could have quit right there. The bite wasn’t hot, but was getting taps. Proceeded to troll a spoon and hooked a 15”, then came a 14” on a fly. I’d switch between casting the TM and trolling the spoon and fly. I proceeded to hook a few before 6a. Then had a good sized fish take my fly and go crazy. Unfortunately I had two lines out at the moment and it jumped over my other line and tangled itself up. After a bit of that mess it spit the hook leaving me with clean up duty. Things slowed down after that with the majority of the hits coming on the TM. Left at 9:30 with about 20 trout c&r’d. Mostly calm this morning with occasional breeze.
