Didn’t have a lot of time, so hauled the kayak to Beaver Lake to see what was happening. Arrived about 2p. Not many people fishing, but a few boats and a few people at the park.
Started trolling a fly, but no hits as I headed across the lake. Switched to a Trout Magnet and immediately hooked a small crappie near some weeds. That was followed by a healthy pumpkin seed from the same slot. The wind came up and blew me out of my spot. Couldn’t draw any more hits, so moved across the lake. Got some hits, but no hookups. Crossed back to a different weed bed and proceeded to hook four different species along that stretch. Caught a good sized crappie, more pumpkin seed, some dink LMB, and some small perch. Probably caught a dozen fish and missed some hits before things cooled off. Ended the night on a decent sized LMB. Off the water at 5p.
Unfortunately the algae blooms are growing and I passed over some large clouds in the shallows. Seemed like I did better fishing when I got away from them in deeper water.
