Rating this day a 4 not because of fish quantity but because of the quality. Of one fish that is. I fished Cda with a friend on Saturday. We boated 3 pike and 3 largemouth between the two of us. I lost a big fish near the boat and landed one at 25", along with 29 1/2" seven pounder. I caught all three bass, but Garth was the lucky fisherman that caught the big fish of the day at 39" and 17 1/2 pounds. Big fish came on a Johnson silver minnow and all other fish came on a 1 1/2 oz spinner bait. The fish were deeper and on the outside edge of those dang stringy weeds, whatever they're called. Those weeds made for tough fishing. They usually disappear in about 3 to 4 weeks. Fishing the south end of Cda has been a bit tough this year. I'm not ready to put all the blame on the gill netting yet, but my guess is that it is definitely affecting my catch rates. I only fished one of my best locations this year where the nets are located and got skunked, and I haven't gone back there since. Too bad everyone has it out for these great fish.
