Earliest I've ever fished Baker, day 2 of the opening. Fish count was about 1,400 and it seemed like it. Didn't mark a ton of fish and they seemed to be scattered about. On the water at 6:00 and tried the lower end first just up from Kulshan launch on east side of lake with no luck. Moved to upper lake and got our only fish in about 70 feet of water while making a big turn. Put up the standard Baker sockeye fight with a couple of aerials. We were happy to not come home with the skunk and will be back for a few days of camping in a couple of weeks and I imagine the catching will be hotter. Pretty typical setup, chrome dodger with double red hooks and a pink UV skirt on about 12" leader. Used shrimp with different scents.

Good luck!

Nice. How deep were you marking/catching fish?

I got this fish on my deeper rod, about 50 ft down in 70 feet of water. It also hit on a turn and was on the inside of my boat, so likely dropped a few more feet and slowed down just before it got hit.

I didn’t really mark many they were pretty spread out so really just the occasional couple of fish from 20 to 50.
