Second trip to Lake Cle Elum this year on Weds. Conditions were tough to say the least. Storm front blowing in, strong wind, rain, choppy water and barometer dropping like a rock. Got hit with some boat rockin, kneel down wind blasts and even a few water devils ,like a dust devil only water. Two stars for the fishing and three stars for the experience equals a five star day in my book.
We managed to catch two fish. Not the big ones we were after but we were glad to get these two. The water level has dropped dramatically in the last couple weeks. Where we were fishing in 120 fow a couple weeks ago is now 60 feet. The only place we marked fish was in the west (inlet) end right where it drops off from 60 to 120 fow. Nothing in the dam end of the lake.
We tried a lot of different gear but just like a couple weeks ago these Macs sure do like the FlashyFish spoons fished naked, low and slow with a little herring scent. Wish I could tell you which spoon. Cant because its currently stuck in a stump. I think it was the large size Lunker Lure with UV, or the Super Mint for Salmon We did lose a lot of gear.
BTW Wishpoosh Campground is open, no running water so charge was only $8.
Tight lines and FISH ON!!!
Randy
