What a privilege it was to chase these trophy kokanee for five days last week with guests. Some days were definitely faster paced than others, but at the end of our trips we were quite pleased by the outcome.

All of our fish were caught between 45-70’ deep. Corn and Berkley maggots seemed to be equally productive. Orange and pink continues to be my best producer as green seemed to entice more trout. It has been interesting to watch these fish move in and out of an area. Just because the weren’t it a spot in the morning, doesn’t mean they won’t show up there later in the day.

As a reminder you are only allowed to keep two Kokanee per person with intact addapose fins. Some of our catch included hatchery trout and couple of walleye, and a couple of days my guests let me get in on the action.

Good luck out there.

Nice pictures Dave.
It seems there are a lot more fish with adipose than clipped. I wish the limit was only 4 fish but any four. I wonder how many of those released fish survive the 70+ degree surface temps.

We don’t get greedy about size and just accept each Koke as a welcomed member of the vessel. I have a feeling these fish will be tougher to come by in the next few weeks, and folks will be content with whatever they get. I too would love a bigger limit, but am just happy to be hooking big Kokanee.

Thanks for the report Dave. Nice fish for sure! Will be down there Saturday to see if we can put some of those beauties in the boat.
