I have been able to make several trips since my last report. The kokanee are still pretty prevalent but some days we got to work pretty hard to scratch out our limits. They really are scattered all over and can be caught in areas where no fish appear on the fish finder. I think the Kokanee are getting used to the warmer water and have established their roaming depths. I’ve been finding them a little shallower than I have in the previous weeks. This week I fished my lines between 40 and 60 feet resulting in lots of limits. Pink has been the hot color for me this week, but that can change from day to day. One thing i do that increases my catch ratio is this: discard factory hook rigs and retie my own. I like to run 2 single #2 Gamakatsu on #12lb maxima mono. Sometimes I get in a hurry and throw something on fresh out of the package, and soon regret my hasty decision.
I am running Kokanee trip for the next few week if you like to join me, feel free to contact me. Remember you can only keep 2 Kokanee with an intact adipose fin. Not all anglers were present in several of my photos.
