My wife and I decided to hang near the oil docks this morning looking for coho instead of making the run to Possession Pt. We dropped our lines in 200 fow 1/4 mile north of the docks and 10 mins later fish on and fish off. Lines down another fish on and this one gets closer to the boat before coming unbuttoned. We circled back back and this time we get a nice pink in the boat. Over the next 1 1/2 hrs we got two more fat pinks and a nice coho and called it a day. All fish we caught in approx 200 fow, 65’ on the wire, 45 degrees on the cable. Purple Haze flasher with PH squid with herring strip was the ticket today.
A year ago we bought a fishing boat and though I had a lot of experience catching salmon in Alaska and Canada it was always with a guide so I was a novice regarding Puget Sound salmon fishing. By divine providence we bumped into Randy Rauscher at Lake Washington and Randy took us under his wing and joined us for a few trips to show us the ropes. His advice and friendship have been invaluable. Thanks Randy!
When I read the complaints on Facebook that people don’t want to share information on this site I call BS. In addition to Randy, others on this site have been very helpful and free with tips to improve all of our successes. Thank you to fellow members for helping others and advance this great sport for the benefit of everyone.
