Took 2 grandkids to Kayak County Park for a day of crabbing on Monday and to spend a night camping. I give Monday a rating of 5. We got our limit of nice dungeness crab and 6 fairly large rock crab. Had a great time camping and no meltdowns during the night. I was a little leery thinking maybe the 5 year old, on her first camping trip with grandpa, might get homesick, but no problems at all. The plan was to get up on Tuesday and fish at Shoecraft for trout. Thinking maybe fresh crab and fried fish feast. No luck at all on the trout. And, I might add, the poorest public boat launch that I've ever used. I spent half the time trying to get my boat through the canal and out to the main lake. The one highlight was when my 5 year old grandaughter caught her first fish. She was proud as a peacock!
