We had a 3 night camping permit. 20# packs and the late start made for a long hike up. It hit 94 degrees which didn’t help. Leaving early would have made things a lot easier. Once up and camp was set I started for the lake shore. I climbed down a Erick embankment. The drop was steep from shore. First cast was a 19” laker. Second was the same. 3rd fish was 22” inch cutthroat. The fishing was spectacular. It’s been years since I’ve found such a clean lake with beautiful cutthroat and lake trout together. The fish were extremely fat so the must have a very healthy food source that high up. Not real common. I was using blue fox spinners. All colors. Orange, chartreuse, yellow, pink, and black with metal flake. I would use one lure until the stopped biting. Then switch to another and they would bite again. Way too many fish to count. I repeated it every day. The fishing was top notch. I’ve heard others carry rafts up there and don’t do so well. I fished all the steep drop offs I came across from the bank. It all payed off. I’ve never given a lake a 5 star before. If I could give a 10 I would!
