So I managed to get in some fishing last weekend, went on Samish Lake with my little pontoon. Got there a little bit later than I wanted, started fishing around 7:30ish.

First leg was slow, couple of nibbles. Switched from red to blue (dodger and spinner) and got decent action. Seemed to be getting better action closer to the west side of the main pool instead of the usual cove on the highway side. Must be where the plankton are because there were more fish jumping on that side as well. The guy that launched his boat at the same time I launched mine stopped by and told me he had limited out around 10. I got off to slow start (wrong color), took me until noon to limit. Didn't help that I lost about 20 fish (3 of them wrapped the downrigger line), caught a pikeminnow, and undersized cutty, and a bunch of little perch. Also released one small koke.

All but one fish was over 12" which is pretty good for Samish, biggest was close to 14". Between perch, pikeminnow, the cutty, and kokes the action was fairly steady for summer time fishing. I think the cloudy weather helped.

I had the downrigger set to 30', straightlined the other rod with 1.5 ounce cannonball. Bait was shoepeg, spinner was homemade wedding ring with skirt. I marked a lot of fish, but some of them were perch, obviously. Feel free to ask me questions if I forgot anything.

Note: My cooler is only 11.5" wide, if you want to make your fish look big, buy a small cooler :)
