This was a 1970's ABC's Wide World of Sports type day (for those of you old enough to remember). I had the Thrill of Victory along with the Agony of Defeat.
Was going to take the Hobie out to Ft Casey, but a iffy wind forecast sent me to North Beach at Deception Pass instead. For the day I went 2/4. 1 fish was hot and took off down the beach. I was going to chase it down and beach it when it suddenly headed back out, and spit the hook. Was the first hook up of the day. Luckily I landed two others to take the sting off.
I was casting a chartreuse rotator with a pink skirt, with a very fast retrieve, almost breaking the surface. Day started off cloudy, but was clearing up nice as I left.
Get out to the Whidbey beaches. My understanding is that they all are producing. Beach fishing you have to be willing to put in your time, as you are waiting for fish to pass by, hoping your line is in the water when they do, and that they like whatever you have out there. Sometimes its fast action, other times, you have to grind it out. I see lots that will sit around and wait for someone else to hook up before they get back in the water. I prefer to be the guy they all see hook up :)
Video shows the action for the day.
