Today's rating is a legit 2.
After my initial try of Lake Washington on Thursday for Coho and hearing that yesterday was pretty good too, I thought today was going to be good. Brought a friend this morning and launched at 6a. We got out to where the fish were on Thursday, but no sign of fish on the sonar.....and there were no boats around either. ??? I must not have got the memo.
We cruised around a bit looking for fish on the sonar, but besides a few here and there I could not locate any good schools. We dropped our jigs in a few places without result. A few boats and kayaks showed up and all were looking for fish. The story was the same for everyone, a few here and there, but not many being located. Around 7a I decided to pick up and troll. Set up the Maglip and dropped it to 40' on the DR. I didn't make it ten yards before I ran into a big school on the sonar. Called my buddy over and I quickly pulled up the DR and swapped out to jig. The fish didn't appear to be biting, but eventually my friend got one. A bright 5-ish lb hen. Eventually we lost the fish, but would find them again. About 20 minutes later I hooked one and boated a 3# bright hen. Other boats came over and tried. Saw one guy briefly hook one on a jig, but lost it. I got two more hits, but missed them both.
We called it quits at 8:30. Never did see anyone else boat a fish. Tough morning compared to Thursday! But, still came home with something and happy my buddy got one too.
One thing that was also more challenging was that the forecast called for little to no wind, but there was a pretty stiff breeze that built as the morning progressed. It made it hard to stay on the fish in the kayaks.
