If I had to rate the day based on weather, I would have given it a 5 star. But for fishing quality, a big goose egg would be appropriate. First skunk of the year, and I go fishing a lot. Maybe my first skunk in a few years.
I didn't expect to catch any Tiger muskie. And I haven't spent that much time learning it, so no real complaints about that. However, I have caught many bass for many years and that I do know about. So after a couple of hours trying for muskie, I defaulted to going for bass. I found plenty of fish, and I had several bumps and grab and runs, but no connections. I probably was fishing in some perch schools at times looking at the configurations. But I did see larger fish in the right spots.
Dropshot with plastic worms was got the only response. I tried different jigs, blade baits, and some other plastics, but the basic green pumpkin 4" dropshot worm was the only thing of interest. I also tried jigging to some suspended fish at about 38' in 45' FOW, and had several grab and go, but nothing stuck.
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Not many waterskiers, and very nice and calm water. Fished from 10 am until 3 pm. Had a nice talk with Joshua on shore. FWI- the park is open only from 7:30 am until 4 pm now. And the park will be closed on Nov. 1st when they draw down the water.
