Stop by a spot I found recently at the river this afternoon. I decided to throw this #4 blue fox spinner(blue/chrome) after hearing its been getting bites from other fisherman and reports online. After about a dozen or so casts I hooked into probably the biggest coho this season for me and it broke me off after pulling a few feet of drag. I was more surprised and caught off guard the adrenaline just kicked in. After throwing a couple more times I seen 2 more drive bys or the flash of a fish swiping at the spinner lure i was throwing. The fish were biting, I was casting upwards across the river to the other side and letting it drift downriver at the same time reeling in slowly just enough to let the blade spin on the spinner.

No bites after half an hour of being there and losing that larger fish earlier. I left and came back later that evening. The “bite”.. I moved over about 15-20feet to the left and threw out a #4 blue fox spinner that I had a bite on earlier that day. After a couple of casts in I finally felt resistance and immediately I knew I had a fish on! I could see it’s flash and it started thrashing around. With limited bank access I somehow ended up getting lucky with no net and landed the fish. Nice Hatchery coho hen, weighed in at 5Ibs... healthy looking fish! Cohos are attacking the spinners! Lost one on a jig the other week!

Great report C-dro! Happy to hear those spinners are paying off for ya. I've had some great success this year on them myself. That Blue/Silver is my favorite! Seems like most of the fresher fish I've caught this season have been on spinners.

Gotta love a good spinner bite! Good job on landing the fish too...I often fish without a net and have limited room to land it so know how challenging it can sometimes be.

Cure up those eggs and get back out there!
