Combining 3 days fishing into this report culminating a week long stay. Didn't fish Tuesday due to wind forecast that didn't materialize, but did fish Wed/Thurs/Fri.

Wednesday was a nice day on the water with only two to the boat, one not clipped that was 3 - 3 1/2lbs and the other that made a final run just as I was ready to slip the net in the water - it didn't come back up.

Thursday we targeted an area we haven't fished the last 3 or 4yrs and it was a good decision, yielding 7 in about 3 1/2hrs, all without the extra fin. Started off with a double within minutes of sending gear out! Best of those went 2lbs, 5ozs.

Friday's forecast was for winds again so puttered around doing miscellaneous things as well as annual maintenance on both outboards and no wind at all. Soon as I finished told my wife pack lunch we're going. Hit the water about 2 and by that time the winds did show up, but nothing to be concerned about. Rather than hit the same spot we fished Thursday, I went west so if the winds kicked up I'd have them at my back on return. And the winds definitely kicked up. We toughed it out and put 5 in the cooler before heading back just after 5pm. Waves crashing over the bow and over the canvas top, but we were dry and comfortable.

Standard setups for me, leaded line out 150' and mono rigs (produced zero fish) 195' behind the boat. Perch pattern and orange/black Kekeda flies tipped with a chunk of crawler worked best.

Not a ton of fish but still sounds like you got some nice ones and the main thing being you were out there. Well done! You're getting me fired up, going to have to get out there myself. Wish you would have said you got some Kokanee, I didn't catch near enough of them this year.

Thanks Mark. Hawk Creek was the hot spot last week, but l'm one of those that never does well there, so choose to fish elsewhere . After assessing wind conditions Friday, I decided Hawk Creek was the safe, closer destination. Was told SLOW was the ticket and I don't troll SLOW but I followed the advice best I could under existing conditions. SLOW produced one 15" 'bow and a smaller one I sent back after about 90mins of effort. Fed up fighting the wind, said I'm done SLOW trolling, kicked speed up to 3mph, and banged 4 fat 16" 'bows in 20mins. Combined with Thursday's catch that will almost fill the smoker. ;-)

Sounds like a good way to spend a day or three.

Thanks for the comments about the speed. I had been back at the 1.7 for the summer but am planning on kicking it back up. Were you using dodgers? I generally do without when I am in the 2.5 to 3.2 zone although maybe a sling blade might be good at that spp

No dodgers, straight flies tipped with chunk of crawler as I usually do. :-)

Seems like maybe the fish haven't moved up as far as I would expect. We had very little action at Porcupine and above last time out.

Im with Phil NO slow for me when trolling in fall/winter at Roosie. No dodgers with the flies either.
Glad to see you got to spend some time up there and catch some fish. Tight lines friend Alan
