I participated in the 2019 Salmon Slayride benefitting Heroes on the Water, and actually won!
60 kayak anglers from all around the Pacific Northwest showed up to have a ton of fun and to help out a great cause. The day was filled with tangled lines, fish wrapping around each other's anchor lines, playing bumper-kayak with each other, giving each other a ton of crap all day, and having a blast while doing it. The rating is more about the event, the people I fished with, and the tons of fun we had. There was a mid-day lunch break served by Heroes on the Water volunteers, an awards ceremony after with tons of fantastic cash and prize awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, along with multiple raffle items given out with a ton a great gear for kayak anglers.
The fish aren't in there very thick yet, but a few of us managed to get a few of them to net. I landed 2 for the day, but 1 happened to come in a 12.52 lbs, which wound up bringing my total high enough to finish with a greater total weight than some guys that landed 3 fish.
Could not have asked for a better day weather wise for the beginning of November, a little cold and foggy first thing in the morning, but then it cleared up for just a beautiful day.
If you are a kayak angler, mark your calendar for next November, you don't want to miss this!
