I cast from shore for a little bit, with no bites. The water level is lower than I’ve ever seen it, so low that no water is flowing over the outlet structure at the south end of Little American. In 2016 WDFW discontinued using the one net pen at Bill’s Boathouse and instead tied up two large net pens to the Army marina docks, raising rainbow in them for six months (Oct - Apr). After the fish were released, the pens would be moved to the shoreline, until the next October. Today the pens are along the shoreline. The WDFW website says they claimed to have released 30,000 rainbow from the “ARMY NP” in April, 2016, along with other fish from the Lakewood and Chambers Creek hatcheries. They claim they released 24,000 rainbows from those net pens in April, 2017, and released 22,000 in April, 2018, plus other fish from hatcheries. The stocking report for 2019 says 21,000 rainbow were stocked from three hatcheries, and there is no mention of any from the net pens. It sort of looks like WDFW has abandoned raising rainbows for American Lake in net pens. What are your opinions about that? What do you suppose that means regarding stocking rainbow for 2020?

WDFW has published fake news for several years - No kokanee fry are being released, and only token rainbow

Smokey34: I sure do not disagree with you. Toni has called them "paper fish." It is a shame that WDFW appears to be messing up the fishing in such a large lake right in the midst of so many lake fishermen.

I have always questioned the trout release numbers from WDFW....
