Once again hit the Spokane Arm with my buddy Glenn. We launched out of Porky and headed up river. We tried several spots including buoy 5 and all we (I) caught was 1 burbot. The water temp at buoy 5 is 3-4 degrees cooler than Porcupine Bay, 46 vs 50. It appears this cooler water is pushing the walleyes down river as they try to stay in warmer water. We ended up back down by porky and were able to find a small area holding quite a few walleyes.
A red jig head with a green red/flake grub produced the best although we also had luck with drop shotting a 3 inch power bait minnow. Most of our fish came out of 65-70 FOW. We had to wade through a lot of dinks but ended up keeping about 20 out of the 70+ eyes that we caught. I also added 4 more burbot to my total. That's 52 over the last three weekends vs about eight total for my three other fishing buddies; slackers. I am not actively fishing for burbot but can't seem to not catch them. Oh well, they do fight pretty good and my buddies like to put them in gumbo so I guess I can continue to contribute them to our fish tally.
