Went to get some fresh fish for dinner before the football game tonight. Having caught several largemouth lately started with a crawfish plug. Then I threw some spoons and spinners. No hits. The water temp has dropped a lot recently, but I forgot my thermometer in my fly vest so don't know exactly. Plan B, which is usually plan A, bobber and crawler. It'll catch anything that swims. Set 3' deep. Didn't take too long to get the first one, then a few casts and the last two came in quick succession. Lots of fight left in these little guys, but you can tell they are starting to thin up from lack of food. Better get them now as we never seem to see holdovers, the water isn't but 10 feet deep in winter. 31 degrees and freezing fog.
One had a 3" curly tail grub and a rubber minnow in it. Filled his stomach. Looked like they had been in him a while. Anyone know how these affect the fish long term? Obviously didn't stop him from feeding.
