Another outstanding fishing trip for our clients! We fished for Walleye on Lake Roosevelt today. We fished until 2:00 pm with 3 limits of Walleye, which were all decent eating size fish. Today, we found the walleye much more shallower than we usually do. These fish were mainly between 70'-90' of water and were hitting on the drop of the jig. The morning hours were very slow and soon as the sun made its way up over the hills, the bite was hot! We also threw a lot of smaller fish back today as well. Good Luck & Great Fishing everyone!!!

I’m wondering how you turn the small fish back if they are brought up from that deep?

My experience is that sometimes over 60 feet and for sure at 90 and 100 feet their stomach expands out theIr mouth until many fish can’t swim off the surface. I know they make devices to drop the fish back to depth that are used by bottom fishers in salt water and some mackinaw fisheries. Wondering how you have addressed that problem.

I enjoy your reports.

I haven’t winter fished Walleyes for several years. I just have to get of my duff and stop trolling for the Bows and jig up some of those winter Walleyes.

you can tell when you have the smaller fish on you just do not sped reel them up or there blatter's will pop. If you take it easy on them on the way up they go back down. Another thing you can also do is pop a small hole in the bladder with a sharp hook and they also go back down. Yes I know what devise you are talking About we have used them for Lake Trout on Flathead lake when you used to jig them deep. Always ended up hooking a protected Bull Trout. No we do not have a problem getting the fish to go back down!
