Went out to see what the Tucannon River was like today. Water is cool, low and clear. Flow about 90 cfs. Did not see or encounter any fish. Didn't even see any other fisherman on the whole lower stretch; usually we see some rigs along the road at least. Fished the lower mile in the fish and wildlife area. Threw spoons, spinners and bobber/jig rigs.

There were a lot of Chinook carcasses along the river and lots of redds marked (we didn't wade today). Hopefully this bodes well for the future.

Ran into the gentleman doing creel checks. He checked only one fish on the grande ronde yesterday. Has only checked 2 on the tucannon this fall and a few on the lower Walla Walla. The college starts winter break so after I post grades I think I'll try the Walla Walla next week. Don't really know the river but plan to learn it now that I have time.

Checking pit tags shows none in tucannon so far and few in and out visitors in the walla walla.

I used to work with people doing research on the tucannon steelhead run, if you do manage to catch one, each fish is thousands of dollars.
