Decided to take a break from catching Walleye lately, so I decided to go down South this afternoon and try my luck at getting some Kokanee by myself. I didn't get on the water today until 12:00 pm. I headed South right away after launching from Seven Bays. The first hour was kind of slow with a few light hits here and there on the top 15 foot water column just running flattlines. I was marking fish on the locater between 30'-40', so I decided to give it a try with the downriggers. The bite was pretty persistent after I switched over to 33' deep, running a pink and orange dodger. I tried out some colorful trolling flies today that a customer gave me on his Walleye trip with us. He was a fly maker from WA. "Thanks, Ron! They work very well!!" I caught some nice Kokanee and Trout and lost a bunch at the back of the boat. Easy to do when your fishing Solo (my fishing buddy called in sick this morning!) From what I've seen so far from recent posted fishing reports and my own personal catches, all the Kokanee have all been wild. Where is all the clipped Kokanee? Going to be an interesting season this year. Good Luck & Great Fishing Everyone!!!
