I was out on Sammamish Lake from just before sunrise till 1:00PM. I launched my kayak from Idylwood Park and trolled from there up towards 24th street and across. The day started out calm but quickly turned windy with heavy waves with cresting wave breaks at 60 feet depth! It was tough to paddle against the waves and wind which kicked in about an hour in. Around 10:30 AM I started to turn back going south and with the wind and waves, that upped my trolling speed to over 2mph and I got a hit half way between 24th and Idylwood Park about middle of the lake as I was reeling in to change lures. It was a nice sized rainbow trout. Not the cutthroat I was looking for but a nice fish none the less. I was using a perch colored flat spoon with single hook trailing Zeps pro flashers/blades. That was all I got. Another person was trolling with an 8 foot inflatable and motor and said he had two catches.

Thanks to RMRAUSCHER for the hints about where to fish.

Thanks for the report. Glad you got something despite the conditions!

If you are out there in the wind and waves in your kayak you are way more dedicated than I am. One observation from Sammamish is that the fish seem to be very barometric pressure sensitive. So if you were out there in the calm and then a storm front blew in, the odds are the barometer dropped and the bite turned off.
