By mid winter standards we had a rockstar day on the big lake Wednesday. Put six nice fish in the net, four cutties and two kokanee. Took a couple home and c&r the rest.
Launched at Kenmore and headed south to pick up Patrick at Coulon. Its a bit of a ride to the south end but sure beats the heck out of driving in traffic. BTW if you launch at Kenmore there is a pretty strong current coming down the slough so make sure you boat is securely tied.
Lines in the water about 10 and we had pretty good action until the wind came up about 1 o'clock. Barometer dropped and the bite died. Headed in to Coulon about 3. The wind died and it was a great ride home until the 520 bridge and then bang into a fog bank.
I marked a couple hot spots. Those arent really the hot spots but the area between them is where we found the fish. Fish were caught 18-30 feet on the riggers, speed appx 1.75. Green spinners with nightcrawler about 100 feet back. Water is a little off color so if you have anything in glow it might work better. Fish were a little on the winter skinny side. One was empty and the other had munched a smolt of some kind. Think some kind of smolt imitation like a needle fish might really do the trick. Next time.
Just to share my pain a bit, I also included a pic of this weekends marine weather for the blackmouth opener. Make it stop!!!! Beginning to wonder.
Tight lines
Randy
