Fished Sat/Sun downstream of Seven Bays. Sat was an awesome day, sunny, mostly calm, and nice. Funny how you can round a bend and be in winds then round another bend and be in flat calm conditions.

Motored down below Whitestone since we hadn't fished there in quite some time. Picked up a native early, then nothing for about an hour, when a 19" clipped 'bow hit my Rip'n Minnow. Not long after, a fat 16 1/2" clipped 'bow hit my wife's Kekeda fly and met the cooler ice. Worked the same area for the next 45mins or so without success so moved on.

Crossed over just above Lundstrum bay and worked the other shoreline the rest of the day. Have fished that side before without success, but one particular spot produced 4 in about 30mins, 2 weren't clipped, a third came unbuttoned about 15' back, and my wife iced another 16incher.

We headed back to that same spot Sunday, and within 20mins, it produced a 17" clipped 'bow and a hog that hammered my Rip'n Minnow only to reveal that pesky extra fin once lifted in the net. Not another bite the rest of the morning, so we packed in it after noon,

Ran leaded lines with Kekeda flies baited with worms out 150' and Rip'n Minnows on mono out 195'. Speeds ranged from 2.6 - 3.2mph. Water surface temps ranged from 37.4° - 37.8° both days.

Not a ton of action but it still seems like a good day to me, glad you got out.

There were a lot of boats out Saturday, and even more Sunday. I was surprised to see the number of open boats fishing the flats. Strange scenario, Saturday there were bank anglers in several places from Seven Bays to Redford Canyon where two boats were beached at the log boom and anglers sitting along the bank behind the boom. Didn't see any bank anglers Sunday, and for the first time since we've been fishing Roosevelt (over 12yrs), I actually saw and spoke with a warden. He was cruising the launches looking for bank anglers and happened to pull into Seven Bays launch just as I stopped at the courtesy parking to drain motorspulled out. Showed him our one for the day and away he went.

Thanks for the report. Heading that way this weekend with my dad and son. Not sure where to go at the moment but just being on the water will be great! Tight lines everyone!

Man you troll fast. I've never gone that fast. I usually troll flies/worm at 1.6-1.8 and do real well. We got 155 rainbows in 4 days in early November at that speed. Maybe I might give it a try next time just to compare. Good fishing to ya, Thanks for your report. Denny

I rarely ever troll below 2mph, only exception being when I'm specifically targeting kokanee. I'll occasionally drop to 1.8 but not very often.
