Headed to Rock this past Tuesday morning to test a new spinner as well as a new color scheme for the OG1. We launched around 7am and headed to the north end of the lake.

Beautiful morning. Water was like glass on the south end. Water temperature was 40.9 degrees. Clarity was reasonable (not as clear as it gets during the summer; but, not full of particulate either). The ideal trolling speed turned out to be just under 2mph.

We had constant action -- especially during the first two hours. All told, we kept 11 fish for the three fishermen on board: 9 rainbows, 1 kokanee, and 1 brown.

The new spinner proved to be the most effective lure of the morning. We fished it behind a gang troll. Next up (in terms of productivity) was the new color scheme on a 2.13" OG1 (fluoro-green/fluoro-orange/fluoro-white). We fished this lure solo, on a long line, behind a 1.5 ounce crescent weight. The next most effective lure was a fluoro-orange 2.13 OG1.

It's the second time in the past six months that we've picked up a single kokanee at the north end of the lake. Surprised us as well. (They don't appear to be in there in significant numbers; but, they're in there.)

Nice report Donn, I would think the Kokanee are being flushed down from Chapman. I will be putting your spinners to work today on Roosevelt.

Thanks! (Absolutely enjoy getting out on Rock--we watched a herd of mulies feeding about halfway up the lake. Then, when we arrived at the north end watched a bald eagle swoop down and take a fish where the stream dumps into the lake. And, didn't see another boat for a good while. Had the entire north end to ourselves. Quite a morning...)

Hi Donn: Nice report. Really enjoyed the video. Makes me want to get over that way. Plan to hit Roosevelt in late June or early July for Kokanee we hope. Went out to my favorite little lake over here on Monday with an old log scaling work partner. We had a blast. Put 25 in the net. All on the 2.44 inch solid orange old goats and also the 2.88 inch orange perch old goat.. Most were 14-15 inches, but a couple were up to 17 inches. Also two weeks ago I fished Offut lake and managed to get 3 five pounders and missed two. All were on the 2.88 inch orange perch. Life is good. Thanks again for the report. Tight lines. Denny

I think the OGs were probably outfishing most people on Rock Lake. I was there last Saturday and seemed like most people were getting 5 or fewer. We did a lot better than that, but weren't trolling.

RWL: The lures we tested on Tuesday were prototypes--they aren't available in the store yet. But, that said, both the spinner and the new OG1 color surprised us. Hope to have both on the store in the next 2 weeks!

We had several cameras running: two GoPros, an Android phone, and (I believe) a Canon digital 35mm. (Can't recall if the 35mm was a Canon or a Nikon...)
