Fun morning on the water today. Put in at Everett at 6am and with a fishing buddy headed to the racetrack.
I have never fished this area before so was really relying on depth finder to find the right spots.
First fish was on in less than 30 minutes, a nice fight but dissapointed to see it had the extra fin, 6-8 lbs and safely returned to the depths.
About an hour went by and I had my 2nd native of the morning around 20". Barely had lines set and I was into another native this time 18" or so.
Then I lost what felt like another good fish.
By now the tide had changed and we were sticking to the west side of the track, pretty quick into another fighter and finally a hatchery fish, a keeper (at least for a few seconds) put him on the tape and he only stretched to 21" so back it went.
I lost one more good feeling fish and we called it a day about 12.30.
Bouncing the bottom around 75' was the trick.
Hoochie with herring strip and slammin sams garlic tuna.
All the fish came on my rod and the only difference between the two was about 10" in leader length.
Now looking forward to my next trip.
