Hiked into Merry via Lenice trailhead due to abandoned derelict RV in normal parking spot - looked VERY unsafe. Fire has burned a significant area including up to the shoreline so rather easy hiking to get in. Had lake to ourselves, including almost no trout. Water temp was 44 degrees, clarity was very poor, only about 3 feet visibility. Tossed chironomids all day, varying depth to entice a bite. Worked my way into East end and found one hungry and rather scrappy trout. Headed back and caught the same fish again. Black size 14 with silver rib was the meal of the day. Had the occasional surface riser but very elusive, probably due to poor water quality. I'll likely head back mid to late April when the mill foil starts since that usually brings on a solid hatch and thus some good action.
