Headed out Sunday to CDA with the kids for a few hours of fishing. The weather was rainy mostly but I decided to try my luck for some Chinook. We launched at the Mineral Ridge boat launch and headed toward arrow point. I ran two rods with helmeted herring. One with 1.5oz of weight and one with 1oz. My baits were about 100ft of the planers. Speed was 1.6-1.9 mph. I also ran two rods on downriggers with kokanee set ups. 45 minutes into our troll the herring rod with 1oz starts peeling off line. My son did a great job bringing the fish and as he got it closer to the boat I realized that I didn't bring the net. It was a little tricky but I was able to grab the fish by the tail and get it in the boat. It weighed 8.5 pounds and was a great looking fish. We headed home after our lucky fish and enjoyed a dinner of fresh salmon.

That is a beautiful fish and thank you for the report. Us Washington anglers are envious.

Good report, good pictures, well done. Did you have to stop at the boat check station at the state line? Just wondering if towing my boat is in violation of the shelter in place rule. Think I am about to get my Idaho license.

The boat check station at the state line on I-90 was open yesterday. No it's no illegal to tow a boat.

Hey foolish question from W Wash. What do the chinook feed on in the lake? Do they spawn naturally in the local rivers? How is the flavor? Thanks!

Kokanee is their primary feed. They spawn in the CDA and St. Joe rivers and they taste great.
