Wow, this was a crazy bummer of an outing. I always look forward to coming to Shannon. It is so remote, and you will hardly see anyone. This time I had the water level dialed in correctly. Water level was up, which means good access to upper reaches of lake. ‘Motoboat’ -partner, and I arrived 0745. 1 trailer at the launch. Launch is good as usual, but with lake level high, a LOT of floating wood in launch. I did a little pushing out of the way of logs before launching. 1 hour 45 min drive from home. Launched, ran across lake. Rods in the rod holders x 20 min. Thunder clap, scatter lightning, RAIN. We could have taken the rain, but the intense thunder/lightning was too much. Back to launch, hussle out of lake. Back another day. I basically just wanted to let folks know that the lake is plenty full, and launch good. There is a TON of floating wood out there, so be careful.
