Since the fog bank scrapped the morning halibut fishing we decided to go and drop some shrimp pots until fog lifted. Great decision as we were able to find an area away from the ripping current on the north side of San Juan. We were able to get 4 limits with two pulls from two pots (about 45-60 minute soak), with a few extra tossed back. Most people were in 300-350' of water, but we went deeper and found larger and plentiful shrimp about 420'. You better have 600' of line, good weights, and large buoys if you are going to go that deep though.
My buddy has found that just having two of the large octagon pots makes for easy limits, even with four of us. Seafood blends of cat food and some pellet with juice was the bait of choice.

The puppy just got to lick the tongs! Not much as tasty as fresh caught and cooked up spot shrimp.
