Can you say WIND? We headed down to Central Ferry to camp and fish since we decided to skip deer hunting this year and try out the fishing. The wind was wild! We did have a few hours of calm conditions over the weekend but it wasn't much. It made for tough fishing conditions. We did manage to boat several smallies around a pound each and one largemouth in a backwater that was about 2 lbs. But this is a story of the one that got away. My wife hooked a HUGE largemouth. We weigh almost every fish we catch so I've gotten good at judging them in the water. This bass would have gone at least 7 lbs. But while trying to net it, the bass gave us one more jump and shake and then it was gone. The only good that came of it was that it happened on the first evening we were there and it started my wife on a fishing quest to catch another like it. She wanted to spend more time on the water than me and that has never happened before! I know we will be back again to try for that big one again!
