Fishing has been tough the last few weeks. Every trip I catch something but not many. Had about 5 trips in the last week and a half. Most were short leaving house around 730 or 8pm. This sunday morning headed out with a friend and my son. We left the house a little after 7. Beautiful morning and no water skiers/surfers yet. Started in sportsmans bay where we fairly quickly caught the 18" walleye and 16" smallmouth trolling copper worm spinners. Then nothing. started working our way towards willow bay restort stopping various spots. We picked up a few small smallmouth here and there and the two perch at our last spot by willow bay. There we anchored up and dropped jigs and worms over the side for 45 minutes. Finally called it about 11ish am. Everyone I've talked to hasn't been impressed with the fishing this year. I missed the spring bite and really didn't start fishing much until the end of June. Hard to find clear water to troll in around sportsmans bay. So many tore up weeds floating on the surface. Some nights I have 2 or 3 surfers going on each side of me. The pic with 4 fish was from last week. On that trip I had another crappie I threw back and a couple released 14" walleye.
