This Report covers 3 days of Fishing-

So Baker Lake has been a blocked spot on our calendar for the last 4 years now. We always enjoy camping, and of course fishing for a couple of days. When the season was closed we canceled our campground. When the season was opened, I decided to see if I could find a campground. We ended up with a great spot at Panarama Point for Friday and Saturday Night! Bonus!

We headed out on Saturday with my Son and DIL in the boat. We had lines in the water by 5:20 and our first fish in the boat by 6:00, my DIL's first Sockeye! She was so excited and did a great job on the reel. We trolled around for about another 30 minutes, and I decided to try the stop and go, after we had trolled over some marks on the graph. My son decided to heckle me as I put the motor in neutral, telling me "that never works"....about 3 seconds later...FISH ON! I am not sure why he was so surprised, it works on Kokanee all the time...in any event, we were able to get the fish in the boat for number 2. Number 3 came about 30 minutes later as we broke away from the fleet in to some deeper water. This fish was nice!!! He ran several times, and were finally able to wrangle him in the boat after we netted him out of the air at the boat. WOW! Fish bonked and bled, we called it at 9:30 and headed in for some breakfast. The fish were really nice, about 5lbs, with the last one at 7lbs.

Same program for Sunday. We had lots of action Sunday, and we lost several before we landed two and headed back to camp to pack up eat breakfast and head home. Both fish on Sunday were 4lbs and some change. Really light bites this year, super interesting....

All fish were caught on pink hoochies with a smile blade and tipped with cured and dyed shrimp, and a little super dipping sauce. All 3 were caught between 26 and 36 feet on the wire.

This Report is for July 26th-
So, my daughter who loves to fish but hates to camp decided she would like to go fishing this past weekend. So I said, you want to get up at 2am and go to Baker Lake? She said no, id like to stay up and go to Baker Lake at 2AM...well OK! So my wife, daughter and I rolled out of Snohomish at 2AM and had the boat launched by 4:30am from Panarama Point. We started with the same program as the previous week. After a relatively slow start, and not seeing any fish caught or even being fought, I was wondering what the day would hold. Well, about 6:00 we landed a Kokanee, that thought he was a big Sockeye. He peeled line and when we got him to the boat, I just laughed...I've caught a lot of Kokanee, but this was the craziest! So we sent him on his way, looking for my daughter's first Sockeye. About 7:30 we got a solid bite on the side rod, with 4oz of lead and 30 feet on the line counter. With only 30 feet of line out, we let him run for a bit to cool him off, before bringing him to the boat. My daughter did a great job and we landed her first Sockeye! At that moment the day was a success! Bonked, bled and on ice we kept trolling and it continued to be tough...about 8:00 we picked one up off the downrigger, but he jumped about 30 feet from the boat and was gone. So, we decided to give it until 9:00 and then we would head back and be home by lunch. We again left the fleet to strike out on our own, and it payed off! We picked up a second fish on the side rod again, this time about 40 feet on the line counter. The fish was swimming right at us, so we had to bring him in and net him, SUPER HOT!! When you bring them to the boat that hot, usually nothing good happens, especially with a small boat and two downriggers still deployed....but we netted him and let him go nuts in the boat, so crazy. Bonked him, bled him and packed up for the ramp, got home, had the fish cleaned and bagged for a nap by 1:00. I felt fortunate we were able to get 2 this day, it was really tough going, but what a great way to spend a Sunday morning with the family helping my wife and daughter get a Sockeye!

Both fish were just over 5lbs, and all of the fish cut so nice and red. Both were on the same pink hoochie as last weekend, but tipped with coon shrimp this time. We used Bloody Garlic Tuna scent to get all 4 bites Sunday. No other scent was hit, so it pays to change it up when nothing was happening. We are so lucky to have such an opportunity to fish in such a beautiful place.
