Just a wee bit late on this report. Fished last Monday but I doubt much has changed.

MA10 has been amazing Coho fishing this summer. June and first part of July was rockstar! Easy limits and quick turn around. Later part of July and first week of August we have had to hunt much harder but the good news is the fish have been substantially bigger. Pic is a double from Monday which is always pretty cool. We ended up with 4 in the net.

Fishing area has been pretty much Shilshole/Meadow Point area and Oil docks off Edmonds generally in 200-400 fow. Outgoing tide seems to have been the most productive but we have caught fish on both incoming and outgoing tide.

The biggest change I have noticed is fish have gone much deeper. 65ft very productive in June but the most productive depth lately has been around 125 on the cable. Warm weather and bright sun over the last couple weeks may have pushed them lower in the water column. Who knows? As always fish are where they are. Fish the water, fish the water column, swap out gear and find the magic. Sometimes its easy, sometimes not so much.

Speed does make a difference. Im not a mph guy so dont really know how fast. I watch cable angle whether fishing with or against the tide. !5lb dr balls at about 45 degree angle. As you fish deeper the angle will increase due to drag but thats a general ballpark.

Effective gear has been all over the place. Red Racer and Purple Haze flashers sometimes with blinker, sometimes not, 30-35 inch leaders. Flo white squid and Ace hi flies with herring strip, Cookies and creme, Flashyfish spoons, naked herring and probably a few more I cant remember. Fish are absolutely stuffed with krill so why they hit on anything is a mystery to me.

Tight lines.
Randy
