Canoed from Malott to Monse and caught nice sized smallmouth bass all day in eddies and along deep sections next to the riverbank. I was fishing with a Rapala Jointed Shad Rap in red/brown crawdad style. Great fighting fish. Would have bagged a couple more if I had remembered to bring my net. (Also caught and disposed of pike minnow.)

That river is loaded with smallmouth, keeping a few will do no harm. Should be ashamed of yourself harassing the guy about keeping fish where legal to do so, language inappropriate also. Come on, you can do better!

Those smallies in the Okanogan river eat a lot of sockeye smolts. Call me crazy, but I've never heard of a sockeye smolt that returned as an adult 2 years later to become a part of the Brewster pool salmon fishery after it got eaten by a smallmouth bass. Sounds like a fun day pvanney - smallmouth are super fun to catch, and killing a few of them is probably good for the salmon fishery..
