Potholes is always interesting as you never know what you are going to catch. My buddy and I were targeting walleyes and started off early casting jigs on humps; that didn't pan out so off to trolling we went. The trolling bite was also slow initially but as the morning wore on the bite picked up. We were trolling worm harnesses in 25-30 FOW. We located and caught most of our fish at the bases of humps about a 100 yards or so off the front of the dunes towards Winchester. The tally for the day was; caught 25 eyes, kept a limit of 16 (released a nice 22 incher), caught about 20 stud bluegills, caught 15 bullheads, caught 6 nice perch and finally 6 largemouth. There was a bunch of guys pre-fishing for a bass tournament. The bass didn't start to bite till about 1130; we caught 4 over 3 lbs. 1130 was also about the same time the eyes starting biting; it is a good bet at Potholes that if you're not catching an occasional largemouth while trolling for eyes, the bite really isn't on.
