Went fishing for salmon under the guide bridge at Lynden bridge. Not great fishing. Haven't had any luck this season fished Vanderyacht but that didn't work very well. Tried bobber and eggs and corky and yarn.

On a related note, on the 3rd or 4th I heard probably 20 fish at vanderyatch but couldn't get them to bite!

anyone have any advice? This is my second season trying for salmon and I have not been to get anything to bite in whatcom county.

I heard next to the wastewater facility is a good spot. I'm likely going to try that next with corky and yarn.

My advice, ditch the corky and yarn. That is a flossing setup that will only get you lucky if the fish are really thick and you can manage to hook them in the mouth. Stick with a bobber and eggs, and if thats not working a size 4 or 5 vibrax is one of my favorite methods of fishing in that area for coho.

Additionally, it takes a lot of patience to catch fish on the Nooksack as there are nets all the way across the river at the Lummi Reservation so a lot of the fish returning get pulled out there and it just depends on when the nets are out and what gets through them. If you stick with it you'll find some fish eventually!

Good luck man

Indeed. Try some blue fox vibrex spinners or a small 50/50 or frog/silver dicknite with around 4 ft of liter with 1/4oz up to 1/2oz weight above your liter depending on flow and depth. Salmon take patience in the river since they dont really feed once they hit fresh water. Vibrex will get good reaction bites though. This is my experience fishing coho in other rivers, not necessarily the nook. Good luck!

Also, fishing will be tough with low and crystal clear waters.
Still a bit early for chum and coho.
Fish the coho hard, they will teach you the most about salmon fishing!
