My buddy Wes and I launched out of Ft. Spokane Thursday around 8 and went down river hunting for Walleye. Caught a couple of nice 17 inchers fairly early but after that it was just getting one here or there and the rest of them were not that big. Around 4PM we decided to go down stream further and try to pick up some trout. Glad we did. We got 6 nice keeper Rainbow before we gave up. None were exceptionally large but they were all really fat and thick with really bright orange meat. It was really smoky in the morning but by evening the smoke had cleared and it was very pleasant. Hope the fires are out. Wasn't a great day but we finished with 15 fish total and had a good ole time. Always good to be out there.

Hi Part-Time. Denny here. Glad to see you braved the smoke and went out on Roosevelt recently. Sounds like a successful trip. Awesome. My fishing partner and I hope we get to come back in November and try our luck again on those waters. We have such fond memories from last year over there. Only this year we will be fishing one rig shallow for kokes and one deep for the rainbows. Last year we only fished in the 25-30 foot zone and only caught rainbows which were beautiful, but this year we hope to focus on the kokes too. Last November we only used flies. We will do that again, but we plan to try other things as well for the kokes. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and wish you the best of luck out there.

Hey good to hear from you Denny. I hope to be down there in November also. We had our day on the water with just some local smoke that cleared up. Glad we went then because it is really bad now.
Fished Lake Chelan over the labor day weekend. It was our 50th anniversary and we had 3 nights at the Stehekin Lodge. Had a little smoke on Friday afternoon but it cleared up after that. Caught Cutthroat, Rainbow and one Kokanee. It was a good trip.
Will look for you in November, send me a PM when you head over.

Nice to read your report! I've got the boat home for a diesel heater install before fishing really picks up. Thermostatic control, real defroster vents and no more condensation from propane. :-)

I'm looking for a good 12v fan to move the air. I can stay warm with my Mr. Buddy catalytic heater but if the air is wet enough I can't see outside.

I bought a "D" cell powered fan from West Marine I've used since we've had our boat. It works, just takes a bit to clear windshield before interior warms up and with a canvas top vs hardtop, I don't run the propane heat while on plane. Though mine is older and not sure if same brand, this fan looks just like it - https://www.westmarine.com/buy/caframo--battery-powered-crew-fan-white--1844851?recordNum=27

There carry several other fans that might work better in your SR. ;-)

Mark: Enjoyed visiting with you a couple days ago. Here is the phone number of Jim Carpenter who ties flies for Roosevelt Lake. I am real happy with the flies he makes. We finally had success the morning after I had talked with you. We ended up getting 19 small razor clams that we ended up using as bait for our crab pots. They really worked well. We got 46 keepers, 3 black sea bass, and 6 hatchery cohos around ten pounds each. It was a lot of fun for sure. Take care. See you in mid November I hope. Denny
