Went to Roosevelt today with friend Brian. Arrived at the Ft Spokane launch about 7 and there was other rig in the lot. Ran up river and saw quite a few on the sonar in the top 25' of water but there were no biters. Fished lead core, long line and downriggers at 18 and 25'. Let the Hunt in iTroll vary the trolling speed between 1.3 and 2.3
Moved down to 7 Bays and started to troll towards hawk Creek. Caught one hatchery bow about 17" on a Frisky Jenny Trick Or Treat orange and black fly at three colors on the lead core. Lost a monster trout at the boat on the same rig.

I was running an orange/pink with dots dodger with one of the Superflies 2" orange plugs and had a monster hit on the downrigger. Brought it up to check it and the leader to the plug was bit off clean about an inch behind the dodger. The dodger had teeth marks on it! Mr Pike did me in and I lost a really nice plug!!

Water temp 56 degrees bright sunshine and 55 degrees what a great day to be out day to be out!

Ya with a mouth full of teeth. Not a very good chance of landing a 30# pike on my trout/kokanee rig!

Nice report Alan! We were there too, all week in fact. I found them with my normal setup, leadcore 155' back trolling my favorite Kekeda flies tipped with worm at 3mph. Fished north Monday and south Tues/Wed. Catching was good both directions. :-)

Phil, I am guessing a 3 mph you were not using a dodger?

I rarely use dodgers unless I'm chasing kokes, just a fly on end of my leader most of the time. ;-)

Glad to hear you got into them Phil. I was not in my boat and my friend always wants to chase kokanee. This time of year it's a trout fishery with an occasional koke. The bites we had were on the Frisky Jenny Trick Or Treat (fitting)black and orange. They came at the upper end of the Hunt speed on the iTroll around 2 mph. That's still too slow as you know.

We fished orange/black Kekedas and my perennial favorite perch pattern, both were equally successful. 2mph might be slow for 'bows unless you're pulling dodgers. I recognized your friend's boat from the interior. Glad to hear you guys had a good time too. ;-)

Diesel heater is great on that boat. You are going to love yours. Been looking at how I might do it on mine.
