Headed down to Lake Washington for some cutthroat trout fishing. We arrived, launched at Coulon and took the boat up to the Kirkland area. The second best part of the day was that the pay meter was out of order, so parking was free. That's $20 saved for the next trip. We started fishing at about 10am and quit right about 3 pm. We saw one medium trout caught in Kirkland but we had no luck. We tried at Leschi and around Seward Park without a bite. We decided to head over to the west side of Mercer Island and one of our downriggers came off 2 times but hard to tell if it was a bite or just came off the downrigger clip. We decided 3pm was the time to head home, so we gave it another 30 minutes. We were on the south end of Mercer Island and just started to troll toward Coulon when my brother's downrigger went off again but this time it was fish on. He was a good puller and in a few minutes we had a nice cutthroat close to 3 pounds. We took a picture and sent him back down to catch another day. It was 2:45 by then so we decided to call it a day, happy to at least get the skunk off of us. We caught him with 60 feet out on the downrigger on a wiggle wart with a sling blade. Beautiful day, sunny, no wind, a great day to be out on the lake with only a few boats around.
