Launched on a windy, white capped day but knew we'd do well. Motored downstream below Lincoln in hopes of getting out of wind/waves, but almost as bad there.
Got one rod out and before I could deploy the second fish on! Wife played it right to the boat, just out of reach of my fully extended net, then spit the hook. Reset and repeat then was my turn and netted a fat 18-incher. Then a cluster of leader issues causing me to retie both rigs after bringing one in. We doubled twice, and both times my wife pulled in nice 20"+ 'bows with intact adipose fins. I had the luck and boated two, one 22.5" and the other 20.5", and both were clipped.
We called it a day mid-afternoon with 4 in the cooler, and while we didn't have quantity, we definitely had quality as those 4 produced 5.5lbs of fillets.
Flies de jour were orange Kekeda's tipped with worm. Was never under 3mph, mostly at 3.5mph. Gear same as I've reported here the last 12+ years.
I installed a diesel heater mid-October and what a great decision that was. Fired the heater up before I pulled boat down to the launch, and in the span of maybe 15minutes, cabin was already 55°. Forced hot air with defrosters are great hand warmers. :-)
