After a fantastic day fishing for cutthroat the day before, I went back out with a friend to see what we could get. When we rolled up to the spot, it was about 32 degrees outside and cloudy. Little to no wind so I used my fly rod. There were still many fish just hanging around the docks and they were easy pickings with an olive wooly bugger. I was just releasing fish, however, my friend limited out on 12-14" cutthroat in about 30 mins with worms. He then switched to a small silver kastmaster and we spent the rest of the afternoon pulling out fish by the dozen, quickly releasing them, then doing it again! My biggest fish of the day was a 19 inch wild cutthroat trout. He ate the beadhead olive wooly bugger, and put up an AMAZING fight on the fly rod. After a solid five minute fight, my friend netted him and pictures were quickly taken and the fish was released. That fish is my biggest on the fly rod since I started fly fishing in the summer. Lake Chelan is fire for cutthroat trout from shore right now, I had a fantastic time and will definitely be going back out!
