Arrived on the Columbia around 9:30 and fished til around 3. Fished areas between the bridge and Hawk Creek. Was challenging with the Northely wind making white caps again but was still fishable. Caught 18 RBT, Average: 19" largest 21" and lost one considerably larger, 1/4 of the fish had adipose fins and the rest were nice stout plants.
As far as tactics, same as most recent trips-been leaning on chartreuse and orange colors, although the fish seemed to have been inhabiting deeper water this day from 15 to 35 feet.
If you have been out and haven't had much luck, don't be discouraged; in my experience and talking with other angles, it's a tough go right now but should pick up a bit in a few weeks. Fish have been really scattered and you have to really hunt and peck to find very little if any consistency.
Talked with the tribal data tech. and he was telling me they have pondered that Some of these trout with intact adipose fins that we consider native fish that have been showing up in Roosevelt (especially in the last few years) may have originated from some Canadian Hatcheries. As I have mentioned before when fighting some of these fish, you'd think you have a kokanee on because of the way they fight and how silvery they look til you get them up close and realize they are trout.
